Craggy Range Hawke's Bay Chardonnay
Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand | 100% Chardonnay
A fresh and elegant Chardonnay shaped by the coastal influence of the Pacific Ocean and the clay soils of Kidnappers. Cooler conditions near the coast produce a lighter, more vibrant style, while large-format French oak and a touch of tank fermentation preserve the wine’s freshness and distinctive saline character.
Vineyard & Winemaking
The 2025 vintage benefited from a warm, dry spring followed by well-timed summer rainfall and mild weather, allowing for slower ripening while maintaining excellent acidity. 75% of the fruit was hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed, then settled before fermentation in French oak.
The wine underwent both alcoholic and full malolactic fermentation before spending 7 months in French oak, with just 13% new oak. It was then fined, filtered and bottled.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of lemon curd, fresh-cut lime and white blossom mingle with subtle minerality and a hint of sea spray. The palate is vibrant and refreshing, showing preserved lemon and white-fleshed peach lifted by bright acidity and a distinctive coastal salinity. A chalky texture and concentrated fruit give the wine depth while maintaining its fresh, energetic character.
