Jean-Etienne Chermette Morgon
AOC Morgon | Beaujolais, France | 100% Gamay
“Les Micouds” is the smallest named terroir in Morgon, producing wines known for their combination of vibrant fruit and supple texture. Made from 65-year-old Gamay vines planted on blue granite, this cuvée is an elegant and expressive take on Morgon, balancing juicy fruit, minerality and refined tannins.
Vineyard & Terroir
The grapes come from just 1.5 hectares of 65-year-old vines planted on blue granite. The vineyard is sustainably farmed and HVE3 certified, with traditional gobelet (bush vine) pruning and hand harvesting.
Winemaking
Made using traditional Beaujolais whole-bunch vinification with semi-carbonic maceration. The grapes undergo two gentle pump-overs per day during a 7–9 day maceration in concrete tanks, followed by six months of aging in large oak foudres.
Tasting Notes
Bright and intense ruby in colour with purple highlights. The nose opens with raspberry, plum, dark chocolate and spice, along with subtle floral notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied, juicy and layered, with excellent concentration, lively acidity and refined, powdery tannins. A silky texture and fresh, lingering finish make this a particularly seductive Morgon.
Food Pairings
A versatile red that works beautifully with grilled meats, prime rib, charcuterie and classic Lyonnais dishes. Try it with rabbit stew, pot-au-feu, roast pork or sausage cooked in red wine. It also pairs wonderfully with Comté and Saint-Félicien.
